Jawn Jitsu Origin Story

Jawn Jitsu Origin Story

Jawn Jitsu emerged off the mats of Philadelphia, Pa. The word “Jawn”. a dialect within the region that is used to refer to a person, place, thing or idea: “What’s dat Jawn you gotz in yo hand?”. One entity began to integrate the local dialect into the instruction of Jiu Jitsu and created “Jawn Jitsu”. This led into the instruction of “The Jawn of the Week”, translation… “Technique of the Week”. This entity began to expand with ideas of taking the “Jawn Jitsu” from the mats to merch, with ideas of T-Shirts with a Black Belt wrapped around it, the Rocky Statue, or just even that general statement “Shrimpin’ Aint’t Easy”. Sharing these ideas again on the mats, the entity began to notice that students were tired of hearing the same old jokes about “Jawn Jitsu”. So, this presented a dilemma…. Stop with the jokes or take action. The entity is not known for stopping with jokes which only left one option… create Jawn Jitsu Apparel.
